This past weekend, a few of us drove down to Cortland to participate in a Highland Games event. We all had very little experience with the events going into this but we thought we would give it a try anyway.
For me it was very frustrating because I felt like performed very poorly. However, I had to keep in mind that this is the first time I have had a chance to practice any of the events. I am certain that will plenty of practice and refinement of my technique, that I would perform at a much higher level.
In the end, it was a fun and new experience that I would like to try again.
Some take away points from this experience: 1) Don't be afraid to try new and different things. If it is something you have never done before, don't expect it to "click" on the first day 2) If you want to be good at something, you have to practice, practice, practice.
